TOOL: Studio Update

August 31, 2005

MJI Interactive reports: After months of pre-production, TOOL finally have begun recording their long-awaited follow-up to 2001's "Lateralus". According to guitarist Adam Jones' blog, the band has been working on the as-yet-untitled album for a few weeks and has been visited by QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE's Josh Homme and the MELVINS' King Buzzo while in the studio. Read TOOL webmaster Blair Blake's puzzling online journal about the sessions here.

It's been four years since TOOL released "Lateralus" and drummer Danny Carey told Launch that the band prefers to take its time. "We're not pressured, I think, and we don't have a record company hanging over us, saying, 'You have to do an album every year,' or something," he said. "It's a lot more important to take our time and have something to say, and if you're putting out a record every year, how much can you really learn in one year? You know, you've got to develop as a person and develop as a player."
